Sabbatical

Following my retirement and relocation halfway across the country I am taking a Sabbatical.

A lot has changed and getting my bearings takes time. When things move slowly I get impatient. In Revelation 3:10 we are exhorted to be patient and to persevere. According to Oswald Chambers, “Perseverance means more than endurance–more than simply holding on until the end.” (My Utmost For His Highest.)

Chambers likens the Christian to a bow and arrow in the hand of God. The Master Archer is aiming at something we can’t see. We are stretched and strained and every once in a while we want to let up, or even to give up. God pays no attention. He goes on stretching until His purpose is in sight and then He lets the arrow fly.

Perseverance means more than endurance. It means trusting God to stretch, relax, or let fly in His perfect time.

Now is my time of refreshing, rejuvenating, and recommitting.

Soon from His hand I shall fly!
